| The Seven Miraculous Signs of John's Gospel | | | |
| Written by mw | | Friday, 03 February 2012 15:50 | This Sunday the 5th of February we begin a new sermon series based on the seven "signs" in John's gospel. This follows on from last year's series on the seven "I Am" statements, also found in the book of John. These signs are recorded to point us to Jesus. John 20:30-31 (NIV) 30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
They are:
- Turning water into wine 2:1-11
- Healing the nobleman’s son 4:46-54
- Healing the paralyzed man 5:1-15
- Feeding the 5000 6:1-14
- Walking on water 6:15-21
- Healing the blind man 9:1-41
- Raising Lazarus from the dead 11:1-57
As we study these "signs", may we learn more about Jesus and his impact on our lives.

The three-day event included treasure hunts, puppet plays, singing, painting, craft, a jumping castle and many other games. Throughout the program kids learnt the amazing story of Jesus' life and how he conquered death. The kids "...can have an experience immersed in a Christian atmosphere while enjoying themselves at the same time," one parent said. Despite numbers being down on last year, there were still around 20 kids attending in total. The number who attended "was very manageable," one of the leaders said. "I was pleased with the number of kids who came who weren't from the church," she said. Approximately half the children did not normally attend Naringal Baptist. The event would not have been possible without the hard work of all those involved in the organisation of the program. The kids club will probably be run again next year, if there are enough helpers to run the event.

It's hard to believe that he's gone, and hard to imagine coming to church without his welcoming smile at the door. In his own humble way, John lived out his faith each day. "He walked the walk". May we be inspired to continue the good work as a tribute to him.

- Jesus and the Shepherds
- Jesus and the Wise Men
- Jesus and Me
The coming of Jesus was an event that changed the world forever. It was predetermined and preordained.
Galatians 4:4-5 (NIV) 4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
The barrier between God and mankind was broken. We no longer have to be separated or alone. Praise God!
Matthew 1:21-23 (NIV) 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."
| | Written by mw | | Saturday, 19 November 2011 12:55 | The Church Leadership have set a goal to have the Youth Group up and running again by the start of the 2012 school year. We can do this by employing someone again, as we did with Kath, or by finding a person or team willing to lead in a voluntary capacity. One suggestion has been to have teams of people helping out on a rotational basis, similar to what is currently in place for "Kid's Alive". We also may consider changing the meeting time from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. If you think you could be part of this team, please speak to Malcolm or Phil C asap. We will need to make a decision soon.
